Google has announced its own AI chatbot, called Bard, in response to the success of OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Bard is currently in beta testing and will be available to the public soon.
According to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Bard aims to combine the world’s knowledge with the power of language models to provide high-quality answers to users’ questions. Initially, Bard will run on a lighter version of Google’s Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA) to allow for easier scaling.
The announcement comes at a time when Microsoft has been leading the artificial intelligence narrative and investing heavily in OpenAI. Despite being criticized for being slow to launch AI solutions, Google aims to ensure that Bard’s responses meet high standards of quality, security, and real-world information.
